This week’s artist On the Rise is Misterwives an American band from New York City. Misterwives consists of six members starting lead singer Mandy Lee, Etienne Bowler, William Hehir, Marc Campbell, Jesse Blum, and sit-in saxophonist Mike Murphy. They have been active since 2012 to present and they produce along the genres of Pop, Indie-Pop and Alternative Dance. Their first performance was at the Canal Room in New York City around February 2013. After their appearance at the Canal Room the band had many doors open to them. They signed to Photo Finish Records shortly after that and have been the opening acts for singers and bands such as: Twenty One Pilots, Half Moon Run, Børns, Bleachers as well as American Authors etc.
The band released its debut EP, “Reflections”, on January 7, 2014, which included 6 songs, including the title track, which was iTunes‘ free Single of the Week for the week of January 6th. Music Engineer, Neil Vron, was brought in to mix the EP while Frequency produced “Reflections“. The EP was met with mainly positive reviews. Following their first great run the band released “Vagabond” in summer of 2014 which was made the opening theme of the MTV Teen Drama, Finding Carter. Most recently, the band opened for Twenty One Pilots as part of the Quiet Is Violent world tour.
The band has had more buzz spread expanding their fan base from being boasted by MTV Buzzworthy as the “next golden children of pop.” The band has also performed on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. And they’ve confirmed that their next album should be released some time in 2015. One can look forward to their exuberant new and different rhythm and melodies. As a new band they’re certainly creating a wave in social media. We can only wish them a bright journey ahead and wait patiently for whatever they share with us next.
